Hoverflies as a new class of managed pollinators for better quantitative and qualitative yields of vegetable, fruit and seed crops

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Deliverables

Demo trials dissemination (opens in new window)

This deliverable will include:Video reportage of demonstration trialsEducative video explaining how and why to use hoverflies in different cropsArticle about hoverfly pollination and its inclusion in IPM / IPPM approaches

Educative video explaining the research underpinning this new pollination solution (opens in new window)

Video that will be used as a promotion material, as well as, a training tool to relevant stakeholders

Patents application (opens in new window)
Quality manual (opens in new window)

Quality manual including quality tests and practises for the monitoring of the entire production process, as well as the evaluation and continuous improvement of the rearing performances.

ISO 9001 Certification application (opens in new window)

Prepare and file ISO 9001 Certification application

Protocol for pollination of Asteraceae, Brassicaceae & Cucurbitaceae seed crops using hoverflies (opens in new window)

Ready-to-use pollination protocols that will help successful commercial implementation of managed hoverflies.

Preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment for use of sterile hoverflies as pollinators of open fie (opens in new window)

Preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment for use of sterile hoverflies as pollinators of open field crops

Report on results of demonstration trials for several crops (opens in new window)

"We will organize demonstration trials both in seed crops (market #1) and some high value fruit and vegetables protected crops (market #2). These results will be depicted in this report"

Accessories for use of hoverfly release boxes (opens in new window)

Complementary devices (hooks and platforms) that can improve both the customer experience (practicality) and the implementation of hoverflies in the field

Calculator for density and frequency of release of hoverflies in different crops (opens in new window)

"This wll be either an app or an online calculator. For example, a farmer wants to know how to pollinate its crops with hoverflies. She/He fills in a couple of info (e.g. surface of the greenhouse, type of crop, number of plants, stage of flowering) and the simulator provides a 'recommendation' like ""to pollinate your crop you need 2 boxes L and 1 box M of Queenfly every 2 weeks"". This could be linked with an automatic budget offer"
