Accelerating the iMpact of microsurgEry by upscaling production of thE world’s first microsurgical roboT: MUSA

Project description

Revolutionising microsurgery in Europe with the aid of a robot

Meet MUSA, the world’s first clinically available CE-certified microsurgical robot. Developed by the Dutch medical device company Microsure, the robot is expected to offer superhuman precision and comfort for patients. The MUSA robot is also highly efficient. The EU-funded MEETMUSA project will prepare the field for MUSA. It will address the bottlenecks for the successful roll out of the product including upscaling and optimising manufacturability. This will allow for the rapid market uptake of MUSA after the project. Meanwhile, MicroSure expects to introduce MUSA in all parts of Europe before 2029.

Objective

The revolution in microsurgery is here. Microsure, a highly innovative Dutch medical device company is introducing MUSA, the worlds first clinically available CE-certified microsurgical robot. We will maximize microsurgical performance by offering superhuman precision and comfort through robotic assistance in pursuit of excellence for both patients and health providers. The MUSA robot is highly efficient thereby reducing costs and improving access to microsurgical procedures. With the great unmet need in microsurgery, we are convinced that the timing for market introduction of MUSA is right and the field is ready to accept and implement MUSA for better patient outcomes. In this project, we will tackle the remaining bottlenecks for succesful outroll of the product including upscaling and optimizing manufacturability, to allow for rapid market uptake of MUSA after the project. MicroSure will introduce MUSA in all parts of Europe before 2029, reaching major societal and economic impact.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
