REVERSE OSMOSIS DEEP SEA SYSTEM

Objective

The proposed project aims to validate a innovative approach towards desalination over a medium term period. A small desalination unit, equipped with an appropriate number of Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes will be immersed at approx. 600 [m] below sea level depth: hydrostatic pressure will then act as the driving pressure for the RO process. Desalinated water will therefore be pumped to the sea surface.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)
