Training for Micro-analytical platform technology

Objetivo

Training for Micro-Analytical Platform Technology (MAPTech) programme for early stage researchers aims to significantly enhance expertise in microanalytical systems and nanotechnology at a European level by facilitating the structured flow of researchers, expertise and technology between research centres in Finland, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.

This training initiative operates within an area that has been highlighted as one of significant importance to the European Research Area, and MAPTech aims to nurture expertise in this field by providing a broad portfolio of related multi-disciplinary training activities and research opportunities in microanalytical systems and nanotechnology.

MAPTech will comprise: Four 36-month PhD programmes, four 18-month training placements. Complimentary activities include applied training placements in industry, training in project management and scientific ethics. Also included are modular periods of academic study where early stage researchers will be able to gain accredited postgraduate qualifications in nanotechnology and microsystems.

The PhD programs will offer structured training and research with the following scope:
- Incorporating printed nanostructures and nanosensors within microanalytical sensor systems.
- Micro analytical device fabrication with an emphasis on polymer moulding and joining technologies
- Advanced polymer micro- and nanofabrication technologies for biotechnology devices, with a focus on roll-to-roll polymeric device fabrication.
- Hybrid and functional material development and incorporation into microanalytical sensor systems

MAPTech will provide the opportunity for early stage research workers to develop their expertise within several highly regarded research facilities across Europe and gain further qualification and work experience in a strategically important field of research.
