Ait Tourist Information Services 2

Objective

The objectives of the project include the following:

planning, development and marketing of multimedia products, and to have these processes optimally incorporated into existing publishing infrastructures to extend the capabilities and options for tourist information products;
to enable European tourist and motoring clubs to share and manage multimedia data resources;
to produce the first of a series of multimedia publications on tourist information aimed at the consumer market. The feasibility study (phase 1) will:

assess the state of the art of techniques, tools and standards for sourcing, capture, management of multimedia data and production of multimedia products, and produce recommendations;
report on the currently used processes for publishing information products by the participating clubs;
assess the possibility of developing a data model and database for multimedia data and the appropriate interfaces to existing facilities within participating clubs (This will yield an outline meta model and technical architecture for multimedia data;
produce a prototype in order to show solutions for specific problems related to multimedia integration as a tool for market research;
describe in a business plan the organisation, processes and actions necessary for the production and marketing of multimedia products

Phase 2 will follow the recommendations of phase 1 and extend the functionality exhibited by the prototype and market it. Thus the first and second objectives will be fully realised including producing interfaces to established information publishing channels.
