Objective
O&M VIEW is an industrial project regarding the translation of existing technical documentation, into a more user friendly and easy to use electronic delivery system. The O&M VVIEW application will contain animation, sound and possibly video, the multimedia components will be available in partial or in complete forms.
The project goal is to start with the production of interactive multimedia applications, for the telecommunication market, in our case it concerns the operations and maintenance documentation of System 12 (one of the most used telephone switching systems in the world, with installations in more than 40 countries).
The purpose is also to integrate and use a system for acquisition of text, images, movies and audio in various formats, in an industrial way. The emphasis is an automatic generation of multimedia documents, starting from existing documents. The use of SGML and the consideration of related standards (like HyTime) is seen as a key tool in order to create an industrial production environment.
