Objective
Multimedia projects bear the complexity of software development aggravated by that of audio-visual productions. They are very difficult to manage and maintain within the bounds of quality and profitability. Furthermore, the heterogeneous human resources involved make it extremely delicate to ensure collective motivation and collaboration to a quality plan.
The main issue in this experiment is the carrying through of the artistic intentions while quality, schedule and budget conditions are satisfied.
THE EXPERIMENT
The aforementioned objective relies on the capacity of the production teams to manage themselves. Methods and standard practices have to be defined and the personnel has to acquire a good sense of efficiency analysis. This will be achieved through the following means :
1) training to project management basics and tools,
2) quality workshops for all to contribute and feel involved,
3) standard practices defining the circulation of information.
Hyptique will gain much from this effort since most of its profitability comes from the efficiency of its project management.
The experiment is based on "Cybermaman", a CD-ROM for all ages that provides fiction as well as educational material related to the Internet.
Hyptique employs 14 people, 9 of them are involved in "Cybermaman".
EXPECTED IMPACT AND EXPERIENCE
Hyptique hopes to gain much from this experiment. Most of it will come from the fact that the discussions on productivity should create an on-going dynamics around quality issues and thus tighten binds amongst employees, enhance motivation and insure that the company as a collective whole will continue to adapt to production conditions.
