Resultados aprovechables
Although the BESTMM project was initiated by the objective of software quality improvement, the extension to optimization of the overall process of multimedia production with all the methods and tools applied is obvious. These products are combining media (text, still and moving pictures, sound) with software in a sophisticated and constantly moving technological environment. In a first phase, after analysing the objectives of the experimentation, a general purpose model of staff structure and tasks organization was defined from previous experience. In a second phase, this model was tested on a baseline project : the design and production of an educational entertainment compact disc read only memory (CDROM), for children between 6 and 10-y-old. Multimedia production is a new industry in which creative and cultural activities are confronted to highly structured tasks of integration and software development. Clear formalization of the objectives and of the technical and artistic guidelines is a condition to avoid endless prototyping. Keeping detailed trace of the production process is the condition to capitalize the know-how, for the benefit of future projects. The first concrete benefits are surprisingly in the commercial action, in which the evaluation of new propositions and the pedagogic effort to clients coming recently to multimedia has been significantly improved. The completion of the experiment consists of a final analysis of the baseline project and the evaluation of the overall benefit from BESTMM on Hyptique's multimedia production
