Project description Intelligent Content and SemanticsEstablishing dynamic links between research and business environmentsCloser alignment and interaction between academia, enterprise and industry as a whole are essential to boost EU socio-economic growth and international competitiveness, especially in innovative fields such as ICT. Within this context, VALUE-IT is aimed at promoting market driven alignment of EU RTD, fostering innovation and accelerating adoption of Semantic Technologies for the Enterprise (STE).Accelerating Innovation ImpactVALUE-IT will address the challenge to promote market driven alignment of EU RTD and Innovation efforts towards fostering Take-up of Semantic Technologies (ST) in business environments. VALUE-IT will address this challenge and contribute to a faster and widespread adoption of ST within mainstream enterprise marketplace by:a) Providing a clear definition of benefits and opportunities of ST; i.e.: producing thorough technology markets assessments; identifying and understanding drivers and inhibitors for the uptake and deployment of new solutions; outlining new business and revenue models and highlighting opportunities for co-operation and new challenges for demand driven future RTD projects;b) Facilitating community building in the ST applied research arena, promoting interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge as well as shared visions for future coordination and alliances to develop, e.g. common approaches, standards and architectures andc) Fostering industry / ICT suppliers / applied researchers dialogue to promote awareness on ST, investigate potential exploitation channels and finally contribute to pave the way for market transformation. To achieve project objectives, the VALUE-IT consortium will implement a Support Mechanism structured by four closely interlinked sets of activities:a) Business demand driven roadmapping;b) ST Innovation roadmapping;c) Roadmapping Integration and Outreach (matchmaking) activities andd) Awareness raising support activities.Successful completion of the project will be measurable through more European companies offering semantic solutions, and more organizations progressively adopting those technologies. In particular, it will significantly help to move ST from Pioneers and Early Adopters to Mainstream Market.
