Guide-books and videos for managers on formal methods

Objective

We propose video and multimedia Management guide-books on formal methods. Formal methods are particularly appropriate for use in high integrity systems and others, such as high volume applications, where the cost of malfunction is high. They have recently been used in industrial applications in railway signalling, radio oncology, engine control, computer operating systems, ship loading, air traffic control and others.

One inhibitor to industrial adoption is the lack of easily available information about applications in which formal methods have been used, the tools which can be obtained, the ease of use of different methods and their applicability for different purposes.

Thanks to this action it will be possible for managers to read success-stories about the use of formal methods; it will be easier for them to understand the interest he should bear to the propositions made by their counsellors.

ACTIONS

Videos and guide-books will be created during the first phase of the project.

They will be built during seminars and/or special events that will participate in the overall dissemination process. For instance, our intent is to make interviews during courses that will be done in Belhoust Castle to Cap-Gemini managers. Seeing these managers on the video will help to make this video more attractive.

After the Management guide-books and videos are produced, they will be described in a marketing leaflet to be sent to prospect buyers/users. Then we will use our mailing lists and build specific mailing lists to send this leaflet.

We plan to show and distribute videos and Management guide-books in Trade-shows. We plan to do the same in some engineering schools for industry professionals.

One of our most innovative mean of dissemination is to provide video-sequences and audio-sequences together with "Dossiers de presse" to TV, radio and magazines sot that they publish articles on the sue of Formal Methods without having to decide whether the subject is "sexy" enough or not to invest in a video production.

Another innovative way is to provide the content of our Management video and guide books on a Internet server built by IFAD.

EXPECTED IMPACT

500 companies will be in contact with our documents either through TV-broadcasts or by direct mail. More than 2000 professionals will read or view our contents.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
