Final Activity Report Summary - CP-FLAVOUR (Study of CP violation and flavour structure as a probe of physics beyond the standard model)
The current centre of interest in particle physics is in the search of new phenomena beyond the standard model (SM). For this purpose, comprehensive efforts have been made both experimentally and theoretically. There are two methodologies aiming at the discovery of those new phenomena, which are equivalently effective
(i) direct search at the energy frontier, and
(ii) observation of an excessive radiative correction by precision measurements at relatively low energies.
This research mainly uses the latter method, namely, the flavour and CP violating phenomena beyond SM, namely in the B physics where a large number of experimental data are available. On the other hand, the biggest discovery of particle physics in recent days is the discovery of the non-zero neutrino mass. This is an indication that the right-handed neutrino exists. Then, it became particularly interesting to consider the proposal that these right-handed neutrinos actually produced the baryon asymmetry in the early universe (leptogenesis scenario).
Neutrino physics is also investigated in the research, as is the leptogenesis scenario in the various models beyond SM.
