Automated reasoning in large formal mathematical knowledge bases

Objective

"In short, our goal is a cross-fertilization between the powerful Automated Reasoning methods (developed at the University of Miami) and the world's largest effort towards complete computer-assisted formalization of Mathematics - the Mizar Mathematical Lib rary (based in Europe). We will work on efficient automated deduction methods for the large Mizar mathematical knowledge base and design and implement a series of systems, which will result in an online mathematical service for authors of Formal Mathematics . We plan to use the superior experience of the host team to disseminate these challenging tasks by the means of awell-established annual international computer competition (CASC) and a joint co-organization of a new competition. In the proposal we argue that the suggested cross-fertilization is of great importance for the fields of Automated Reasoning and Formal Mathematics, and also for the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics in general."

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
