String field Theory and new cosmological models

Objective

New cosmological models arising from String Field Theory will be studied. It is known from observational data that the state parameter w in cosmology is close to -1. It is suggested to use the tachyon of string field theory as a scalar field in cosmological models of the Dark Energy, because the non-local structure of the string interaction makes this field a phantom, which would realize the Dark Energy dominated Universe. Various consequences of these new cosmological models, such as an interaction with the Cold Dark Matter, brane decay in the non-flat gravitational background and brane-world scenarios will be studied in the light of new ideas coming from String Field Theory. Relationships with the bulk-boundary correspondence and the concept of brane cosmology will also be studied.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
