Objective
PORTAL offers multi-thematic access to content via the Web, for audio-visual content users in five languages. Online screening using MPEG 4 format and MPEG Broadcast delivery of content, even by satellite, complete the service, and e-commerce for direct delivery provides a full service. This service aimed to provide a real online link between content owners and production structures, editors, and generally all content users. The PORTAL project addressed the problems of language, timetable, human subjectivity, IPR management, price of content, security of payment, delay of vision as well as immediate access.
PORTAL used both standard Internet and High speed Internet. Belgavox and Saint Thomas are rights owners and both have web sites with a database and search tool. Inna has more than 30 members worldwide who own all the rights and wanted to join the project.
