Objective
MOBIGUIDING was a 21-month project presented by six partners under Action Line 2.1: "Fostering New Partnerships and the Adoption of Multilingual and Multicultural Strategies" of the eContent programme. The project aimed at building a European multiplatform, a multilingual interactive leisure guide network, on a common software and database in which contributors (both public institutions and private companies) from all countries could compile information relating to leisure and cultural events in their cities.
The guide was meant for the Internet and mobile devices, with a focus on third-generation mobile phones. The aim was to develop an interactive tool - helpful for end-users, event organisers and content suppliers alike - featuring the most advanced multimedia technology, including video, vocal servers, geolocalisation and m-commerce. The project was based on a new business model that enabled all players in the value chain to be rewarded for their work, and therefore encouraged them to cooperate in the content creation.
