VENTO is a business management system with combined workgroup/workflow functionality. It offers for instance contact management, automated workflow, project management or scheduling. It is designed for distributed environments(eg virtual enterprises or other forms of co-operation or teleworking). The holistic philosophy of VENTO makes it valuable for front-office, back-office and knowledge workers.
VENTO provides the necessary software platform to support simultaneous data access, for efficient, flexible and relatively cheap data exchange and for the coordination of the necessary procedures and processes between several collaborating companies. The VENTO philosophy has emerged from extensive research into the users needs such as: adaptation ability to the varying requirements of the participating companies; flexibility in the integration of new partners; simple modification of existing modules and exchange among the partners; support of geographically distributed applications and databases; protection of the information from unauthorized access. VENTO consists of a workgroup, a workflow and multilingual components.
The following technical innovative aspects characterize the construction of VENTO: multistage distributed Client-Server architecture allows for heterogeneous environments; the component and service-oriented concept makes the system; passive and active information management and user-oriented flow provide a constant and complete overview; the easy Internet connection allows for balancing/adjustment between several VENTO networks using the Internet and for independent local programme use with a world wide web (WWW) browse; its multilingual abilities make the use VENTO in international environments easier. The exchange of information using wide area network (WAN) is possible both directly (using the internet/intranet client) and indirectly (using intelligent data replica methods).
