Innovation Finance in the Space Sector

Objective

The project FinanceSpace seeks to create sustainable structures on innovation finance for the space sector. This project will contribute to establishing links between ESA initiatives in the field of innovation finance, and EC RTD programmes. FinanceSpace will liaise with similar initiatives and networks to bring key decision-makers together to vitalise the space finance sector. Space technology and systems are important for the spin out and spin off of technologies and systems for non-space applications, across all industry sectors.

FinanceSpace will result in: elaboration of particularities of the space sector, in parallel with the other identified industry sectors; establishment of structures to facilitate exchanges on space-innovation finance between ESA and the EC; a rolling programme of events to support space-technology take-up. The overarching outcome will be an enhanced linkage between the EC policy on innovation finance and ESA initiatives on space-technology finance and consequently a new and dynamic structure for the European Research Area (ERA).
