Profiles of European Authors from Small Language Regions

Objective

The intention of this project is to publish current profiles of European authors based on interactive multimedia technology in order to introduce the authorships in an attractive and adequate way. The author profiles will include biographies, bibliographies, reviews, existing video and sound recordings, illustrating the authors' own point of view on their works and their regional roots (all text in user interface and content on English and perhaps other languages).

In the definition phase the applicant has chosen to concentrate on 2 small language regions in Europe, where the authors are almost invisible although they are at an international level. In the project Danish, Dutch and Gaelic are chosen as language regions. It is expected to be extended to other European language regions. The target market for the planned multimedia production will be libraries, schools and other educational institutions, publishers, literary information centres, radio and television channels, the daily press, cultural magazines, etc. The distribution is planned to be carried out by the Danish Library Centre (DBC) and similar institutions in Europe. The partners will cooperage with the literary information centres in Denmark and the Netherlands. A close contact to the copyright owners (authors, publishers, television channels etc.) will be of vital interest to the project. The public relation effect of the project is of evident interest to the copyright owners in both countries. In future the multimedia concept can be extended to include introduction to literary genres, music and art.
