Objective
"During the Maastricht University Researchers Night, the University’s researchers’ community capacity to work “beyond borders” is communicated through speech, sound images, and by showcasing in particular projects financed by the European Commission with partners all over Europe and in the rest of the World. Contact with Local Authorities (Province and City of Maastricht) and specialized local institutes of higher education (Maastricht Hotel Management School) have been developed from an early stage and their full support has been obtained. Communication with national media have been established to assure media attention. Central concern for all activities is the “experience” the participants will have during an attractive programme which features a number of top-researchers of the University, presenting activities ranging from a ""healthy heart"" activity, fear of spiders, lie detector, the sex and gender dimension of research, to love and sex with robots. After learning about what researchers do, a participant in the “beyond borders” researchers’ night will take home a memorable story, which subsequently can be shared. The ultimate positive and satisfying experience for anyone is the learning experience. This is what all participants will have numerous opportunities to do during the researchers’ night during personal contact with researchers. The theme “beyond borders” has also been chosen since it matches well with the University of Amsterdam’s “discovery” team. The events can be jointly marketed as “Discovery – Beyond Borders”."
