Product focused improvement of embedded software processes

Exploitable results

The PROFES methodology guides the user to an effective application of the most innovative improvement approaches, like BOOTSTRAP assessment, the Goal-Questions-Metrics paradigm and Experience factory, that are widely adopted by leading-edge industry in the USA and in Europe. The methodology is an embedded systems specific approach driven by product quality improvement. Target markets : The PROFES project and consortium address the market of organisations developing embedded software systems, in various sectors like telecommunication, medical systems, retailing systems and avionics. Technologies: The PROFES project will develop an integrated approach to software process assessment, product and process modelling, goal-oriented measurements and experience factory. The PROFES project achieves its objective through the following exploitable results: - the PROFES methodology handbook, which includes: - guidelines to software process and product relationships, - support for an integrated use of software process assessment, product and process modelling, goal-oriented measurements and experience factory - guidelines to business impact modelling - tools to support the PROFES methodology - presentation and training material - packaged experience, including results from the PROFES application experiments.
