Objective
The overall objective of the Action was to improve the prosody of synthetic speech. The more specific goals of the Action were to achieve a better knowledge and understanding of :
the acoustic manifestation of prosody ;
the linguistic factors contributing to prosody ;
ways of modelling prosody.
Current status
The Action was completed in November 1995 and the final report was produced.

A new COST Action (COST 258) was signed in December 1996 and is expected to start in May 1997.
