Objective
The objective of CREATE is to produce a multi-lingual CD-ROM embedded auditing tool and educational material for entrepreneurs and manufacturing SMEs. This will benefit them in two ways:
- Informing them of ways in which to progress with enterprise innovation and with technical solutions. Organisations will be informed of potentials of re-engineering, selection of IT-systems architectures, etc.
- In undertaking a broad audit of their own company, on all aspects relevant to the uptake of technological and organisational innovations, companies will be in a better position to assess the direction and speed at which they can progress.
CREATE is based upon work carried out in previous Accompanying Measures within ESPRIT, AICIME (EP7528 and EP 8889) and AITIME (EP9902). These projects applied and refined a paper version of the auditing tool. The elements that have become part of the paper version, the Auditing Toolbook, have already been tested in several hundreds of SMEs. CREATE's CD-ROM is a means to disseminate more widely the specific abilities and potentials of global SME audits. The Hermes Working Group (EP9158) has produced an educational approach which CREATE will apply. This is to ensure that the user is led through a sequence of steps that increase the user's insight into the possibilities and solutions for the user's particular company as well as to analyse its current status, evaluate the viability of alternative scenarios and select most likely technological and organisational solutions to fit the company's needs.
The exploitation of CREATE will be enhanced through the involvement of a publisher to support a commercially sound exploitation and marketing process. It is intended also to use existing distribution channels through partners in various Accompanying Measure and CIM Centres across Europe.
