Objective
Current models predict a twofold increase in atmospheric CO2 and associated decrease in oceanic pH by about 0.4 units until the end of present century. How this drastic change will affect food webs and trophic transfer in the coastal ocean is unforeseen. We propose to study the effects of these changes on phytoplankton biochemical composition and concurrent effects of potentially altered food quality on secondary producers in the marine systems.
