Objetivo
The objective of AIT-IMPLANT is to develop a Generic Enterprise Change Management Methodology (GENCMM) and to improve associated tools in order to efficiently support the IT innovation cycle from strategic planning to the IT innovation integration and deployment.
The approach is similar to a total quality management (TQM) approach but is applicable to technological breakthrough instead of activity continuous improvement. The methodology will be targeted to the whole extended enterprise and in order to take full advantage of these IT innovations, will consider the following enterprise dimensions,
- The technological dimension (maturity, openness etc)
- The process dimension (business process re-engineering)
- The human resources and the enterprise organisation (skill, culture, behaviour, responsibilities)
- The economical dimension (cost-benefits analysis)
Industrial know-how acquired during projects from the European R&D programmes (ESPRIT, BRITE EURAM, RACE/ACTS) combined with scientific knowledge originating from the contributing research institutes will be used to derive the GENCMM methodology and to select and improve the supporting tools. A methodology tool case will be evaluated and validated on some industrial business cases particularly relevant to the project industrial partners.
It is expected that the developed methodology and tools will facilitate the efficient integration of IT innovations into the enterprise business processes and will reduce all the risks associated with human factors and organisational changes, in addition to permitting enterprise management to balance expected benefits against identified costs. As the methodology will be developed to support all activities of the IT innovation cycle, it will be a decision support tool as a guide for technological innovations selection, integration and deployment. The methodology and its associated tools should speed up the efficient deployment and utilisation of IT innovations resulting from European R&D proejcts while optimising the associated costs and reducing the risks.
