LIVESAILING FOR PROFESSIONALS

Objective

LiveSailing for Professionals (LS4P) is an innovative GNSS service application targeted to sailing professionals.

In the past years, BeTomorrow has been developing intensively the LiveSailing Mass Market edition for sailing event broadcasting. But the standard GPS terminals commonly used by BeTomorrow revealed not to offer enough positioning accuracy and reliability to meet more severe requirements than the ones needed for race event broadcasting.

The future availability of the EGNOS and European GNSS systems now paves the way for much more precise and reliable positioning capabilities which offer in turn new perspectives for the development of a range of innovative LiveSailing for Professionals applications:

High precision and reliable positioning systems will allow to monitor and to record in a fully synchronized mode, on a continuous basis and all along the race duration all the parameters of the race and racing site.

The LiveSailing for Professionals system will then become part of the official racing chronometers which will be used by regattas organizers to detect wrong departures and to certify boats ranking.

Back to the shore, the sailors and their coaches will also be able to replay the whole race to assess how far they have been from the maximum theoretical performance of their boats. They will also be able to compare their trajectory with an ideal one to be computed from the real measurement of wind and sea conditions all along the race duration.

BeTomorrow and Septentrio will bring into the project, their technological excellence in multimedia platform management and in high end GNSS systems. The Olympic British Team will behave as a key representative end-user.

The project is strongly supported by the official timekeeper of the LONDON OLYMPIC GAMES.
