Objective

Research on sound and prosodic quality is required to produce improved synthesis systems. Better systems are required to facilitate the transmission of information by public telephone, especially under conditions of strong ambient noise, weak or noisy telephone connections, or for users with listening impairments induced by hearing defects or by limits in second language mastery.
