Euro-Australian co-operation centre for continuous improvement and innovation management

Objetivo

The aim of the "Euro-Australian co-operation centre for Continuous Improvement for global Innovation Management" (CIMA) project is to set up a co-operation centre to facilitate co-operation and knowledge transfer between Europe and Australia.
In particular the aim is to enhance the quality of co-operation among European and Australian companies, research centre and other no-profit organisations, facilitating conjoint activities involving knowledge transfer and allowing mutual learning.

The co-operation centre will pursue this objective performing three kind of activities: networking, dissemination and Euro-Australian joint innovation projects.
The first co-operation projects will be performed within CIMA and will serve as a trial activity to start up the activities of the centre.
The topic and specific objective of this trial project will be consistent with the wider objective of the co-operation centre. In more details, this trial project will aim at developing a methodology to support firms in understanding how to develop Continuous Improvement (CI) in New Product Development (NPD) Knowledge Transfer process inter and intra firms belonging to a supply chain.
This methodology will suggest which Enabling Mechanisms (EMs) can be used in different environments to support Continuous Improvement NPD Knowledge Transfer, and facilitate the process of creation, embodiment, transfer, diffusion and promotion of knowledge concerning managerial and technological innovation within and between European and Australian companies, research centres and other no-profit organisations. Both European and Australian firms, in fact, will more and more compete on how effectively they can co-operate within networks of partnerships, thus exploiting and continuously improving their capabilities in managing in a global perspective processes as product development, logistics and supply chain management.
To summarise, the expected outputs of the project will be:
the creation of a Euro-Australian co-operation centre up to supporting companies, universities, research centres and other no-profit organisations in developing Euro-Australian co-operation activities and diffusing their results;
the creation of a Euro-Australian network of companies, universities, research centres and other no-profit organisations, sharing interest in Euro-Australian co-operation and global innovation management;
the start up and promotion of the activity of the co-operation centre through a relevant trial project.
In addition to these general outputs, the trial project will produce some specific results related to the dissemination and promotion of Research and Development activities and opportunities offered by the IV and V framework programs.
There is strong evidence of the industrial relevance of CIMA deriving on the one hand from the opportunities of a more intense and qualified Euro-Australian co-operation and on the other hand from the growing globalisation of innovation activities.
The availability of a running Euro-Australian co-operation centre and of a methodology to support knowledge transfer in global Innovation Management will open great opportunities for both the industrial users and the partners.
