Objective
The main goal in the proposed project is reinforcement of the research capacities of the Department of Polymer Engineering (DPE) at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy Skopje and to promote this Department as certified reference institution. This institution will provide in the region comprehensive, interdisciplinary services in the development, processing, characterization and testing of polymer based and recycled materials. A permanent work on establishing and strengthening the network of research and industrial experience within the WBC (Western Balcan Countries) is also foreseen.
Actually many products from Macedonian and Kosovo polymer industry cannot be exported in other countries because they are not proper certified. For this reason the policy of Macedonian Government is to establish the reference polymer laboratory that will be able to coverall necessary tests for polymer raw materials and final products. The existing policy of DPE is faster development of educational and research activities and to follow the modern trends in new polymer materials and recycling of plastic.
For realization of this policy, it is necessary to provide some pre-condition, mainly connected with improving the knowledge, research, methodologies, financial support, human resources etc. The most common way for providing these pre-conditions is establishing the link and collaboration with similar, more developed institutions in EU countries, and to benefit from their knowledge and experience. In this manner the activities and scientific level in DPE will be enhanced, so it could be the main promoter for plastic industry development in Republic of Macedonia, as one of the actual most promising activity for opening new jobs in small end medium size enterprises.
