TeRIS will increase participating regions??? R&D investments and thus improving regional competitiveness and helping the regions better fulfil the Lisbon goal.
TeRIS template created contributes to empowerment of the RIS actors increasing their impact possibilities on R&D investment allocation. In that way the RIS w ill contribute to developing policy recommendations in order to help planning programmes better meeting regional needs. The structure of this CA is threefold concentrating on enhancing the functionality of a RIS, and thereby a RIS template development, opening up influence and interaction channels, through which forwarding recommendations to relevant authorities; and thirdly addressing the participation of SMEs.
As an additional component of the activities TeRIS implementation plan includes an effective dissemination task.TeRIS coordination activities build on the doctrines of the theory of Learning Region.
According to the model, the innovative capacity of a region is dependent on the production environment of the region and the organisations belonging to t he RIS, as well as the interaction occurring between them. The emergence of innovations requires an effective RIS with functional interaction. TeRIS is a CA of 9 partners. The coordinating organisation is Kemi Tornio Polytechnic (FI), and the other partners are University of Trento (I), Rovaniemi Polytechnic (FI), Region of Western Macedonia (El), Province of Trento (I), Regional Development Company of Western Macedonia (El), Rovaniemi Regional Development Agency (FI), Kemi-Tornio Regional Development Agency (FI) and Zeus Consulting S.A.
