Management and Optimization of traVel in Enterprises

Objective

The project aims to develop a telematic information system, based on GIS technologies, for the planning of trips and the identification of the optimal route between the point of departure and the destination point.

The identification of the optimal route will be based on criteria and preferences selected by the user and on casual events which can dynamically alter travelling conditions. The information supplied to the end-user will be both textual and graphical; either as a route traced on a map with a variable scale, or as a natural language of the user's choice. The user interface will be completely multilingual.

The system will manage and integrate three categories of information: A cartographic base, Tourism/hotel domain of expertise, Information which dynamically alters travelling conditions.

The primary target market of the system are organisations which have a need to automate and plan their internal business trip activities.

The project has a particular interest in developing the ergonomic and cognitive aspects of the user interface.
