Final Report Summary - TRAM (Transport at the microscopic interface)
The project transport at the microscopic interface (TRAM) has successfully explored transport phenomena at interfaces. Experimental observations of these phenomena have resulted in further insight that is relevant for membrane separation processes. We have specifically studied the gas contacting of water, the transport of salts, and the growth and fate of bio mass in water filled capillaries. Such understanding is directly relevant for drinking water production using membranes, where (de)oxygenation and desalination of aqueous streams are considered.
