From Legacy Systems to Services in the Net

Objective

The evolution of the Internet and wireless communication, the pillars of the so-called "e-Economy", keeps inducing more challenges to the way companies and organisations operate and need their processes supported through software systems. More and more, the day-to-day functioning of our society, as a whole, has to rely on a network of infrastructures controlled by software systems. However, in order to compete in this "new-Economy", most organisations have to rely on what are called "legacy systems": systems that have been constructed without having the ability to change as a first-class design-goal.Leg2Net focuses on the methodologies and technologies that address the challenges that companies and organisations are facing for evolving their systems to operate and compete in the e-Economy: How to create the new generation of applications that will operate in Net-based environments? How to evolve legacy systems and promote business processes in an economy dominated by the need to offer and integrate, on demand, new services? How to operate systems that are becoming progressively heterogeneous (multi-platform, multi-vendor) and complex (relying on intricate interactions over often unreliable communication networks)?

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
