Organic Electrode Materials and Luminescent Polymers through Spiroconjugation

Final Report Summary - ORGBATT-SPIROPOL (Organic Electrode Materials and Luminescent Polymers through Spiroconjugation)

The objectives of the project OrgBatt-SpiroPol were to design, synthesize, and test new organic materials for charge storage applications and polymers with unusual conjugation types as novel luminescent materials. Several aliphatic polymers functionalized with redox-active side groups were synthesized and investigated as cathode-active materials for lithium-ion batteries. Synthetic strategies were elaborated to build up functional monomers with unusual conjugation characteristics for incorporation into conjugated polymers.
The integration of the fellow in Europe was successful. She now has a stable, permanent position as W3 professor for Molecular/Organic Functional Materials at the University of Freiburg, Germany.
