Stimulate Aerospace Research and Technology START in Associate Candidate Countries (START)

Objective

Associated Candidate Countries (ACC) had enormous experience in aeronautics and space. Unfortunately this expertise is unknown to both Member States (MS) and ACC partners that is why collecting, sorting, presenting and disseminating the available information for ACC aeronautics and space potential and heritage is the strategic goal of the proposal. This goal will be achieved by (a) mapping the aerospace area in each ACC and creating a detailed database of researchers, research organizations, universities, industry parties, small and middle enterprises (SMEs), etc., involved in aerospace activities or possessing aerospace expertise; (b) by creating, maintaining and updating an ACC-Aeronautics and Space Portal, containing the above mentioned database and (c) by editing and publishing an electronic Newsletter as a medium for the ACC aerospace community. The project also aims to strengthen the network of ACC aerospace NCPs, researchers and liaison officers though the organisation of brokerage events and seminars in four ACC (Bulgaria, Latvia, Malta and Turkey) and in one MS (France) countries. Thus START will mobilise the human and material aerospace potential of ACC and will provide a critical stimulus to facilitate international co-operation between ACC and MS, which is a fundamental dimension within FP6. The project will result in significant increase of the level of ACC participation in subsequent calls of current and future Framework Programmes and particularly in proposals for integrated projects and networks of excellence. Fulfilling its objectives, START will favour ACC association and cooperation in the development of European Research Area in the shortest time possible and in a lasting and sustainable way. The results of the project will also contribute to the synergy between ACC aeronautics and space research, production, university education, and the European aerospace market as well as to the objectives of the European Space Policy.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
