Final Report Summary - RODI (Romanian research and innovation days)
The operative goal of RODI was to encourage and to stimulate Romanian entities to participate in European research activities. This operative goal of RODI was however embedded in a broader strategic vision which is about the creation of a Romanian RTDI system and the integration of Romania into the European Research Area (ERA). RODI 's strategic objectives were: to support the creation of innovation and research systems both at national and at regional level and to make Romania an integral part of ERA.
As part of the project they planned and organised an annual information event in the form of a conference. The conferences are part of the MERY's general policy activities concerning research and technology, technology transfer and innovation the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) conference was a self-standing event. It took place on 22 and 23 March 2005 in Bucharest. The conference has informed about FP6 generally, they have presented selected priority research areas (amongst which are IST and biotechnology) and current or coming calls and they have presented activities within the research and innovation field and presentations from successful proposers and experienced project partners.
The project had also planned and conducted seven regional workshops per year. This helped cover all planning regions throughout the country. The workshops were planned as half-day events with some 25 to 40 participants. With regard to the content of the workshops, they have focused on thematic priority areas which are of particular relevance in the region. The workshops, as they are thematically much more focussed, have provided (in addition to information about programmes, calls and projects) concrete support regarding accessing FP6 as well as possibilities to put together scientists from different research centres both at national and international level. This has covered concrete advice on how to become involved in FP6 information flows, how to find partners and how to prepare proposals.
The project continued their efforts and arranged workshops in Stefanesti, Arges, Sibiu, Timisoara, Cluj, Bucharest, Constanta, Iasi, and again in Bucharest and a supplementary participation in Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) - Conference in Bucharest.
These synergies will create additional momentum for both the emerging innovation system and Romania s integration process into ERA.
