Objective
This response to the SAGE-02 call details the proposed approach to an engine mounting system for the open-rotor demonstrator. The goal of the program is to define the requirements of the mounting system, design and develop the system so that it meets the requirements and can be optimized and validated on an engine ground test.
The mount system structural and vibration isolation requirements will be established early in the design phase. This will be done through trade studies, incorporating the many years of experience of LORD in designing and developing aircraft engine isolation systems. The technology used for the system will be adapted from current elastomeric, metallic and Fluidlastic engine mount systems to the requirements of this engine. Manufacture of components will use LORD aerospace quality system. Bench testing will be conducted at LORD using methods established for certification testing of engine mount systems. Details on how LORD will utilize, adapt and extend current technology to meet the requirements of the program are shown in the work package response.
