Multidisciplinary Research Network on Health and Disability in Europe

Objective

MURINET (Multidisciplinary Research Network on Health and Disability in Europe) provides the means for thirteen institutions and their research teams, of recognised international stature, to further link up, in the context of a collaborative research proj ect, in order to formulate and implement a structured training programme for researchers in the field of health and disability research and management. A company (SME) with expertise in training in EC funding programmes, proposal writing and project management will provide support to the network structure and activities. The MURINET network will provide a cohesive, but flexible framework for the training and professional development of researchers in the early stages of their research career, contributing t o achieve a critical mass of qualified researchers, and to overcome institutional and disciplinary boundaries, by the promotion of multidisciplinary research. MURINET implement the fundamental ethical mandate towards the complete integration and full participation of people with disability in all areas of life. The main objective of this RTN is to create an European pool of experts in health and disability research and management, able to integrate several skills within the framework of the ICF classifications model. These researchers, able to conduct and manage research on health and disability, will acquire and will be able to apply the concept of health and disability based on the ICF bio-psycho-social model and will be able to manage disability accordingly, in any operational environment, and will develop public health strategies and will plan disability policies in a Human Rights framework. MURINET will also build up researchers¿ capacity to look at the most burdensome European diseases such as neuropsychiatric and psychological disorders, substance abuse, rheumatology etc. with an ICF perspective and to develop appropriate multidisciplinary cure and care strategies.
