Single European sky implementation support though validation

Objective

The co-operative ATM concept developed by the EC's C-ATM project is considered by the major stakeholders of the ATM community as an important input to SESAME. It provides a common focus towards achievement of the Single European Sky, addressing the predicted growth in demand (twice current levels). This concept now requires investigation and validation.

The co-operative approach adopted by C-ATM is expected to offer substantial improvements to ATM performance, significantly improving safety, predictability, capacity, efficiency and cost, targeting economies of over _3Bn annually(PRR/8). This will be achieved by ensuring the optimisation of overall network performance rather than individual flights, with decisions based upon shared knowledge providing a common view.

The primary goal of Episode 3 is to deliver sufficient evidence to support implementation decisions. Therefore Episode 3 will:
- Address the Key Performance Targets for the future ATM system;
- Provide evidence of the operational concept's
