Final Report Summary - SPIDERA FOR LIFE (Speeding collaborations in the life science and health domain of the European research area and beyond) SPIDERA FOR LIFE utilised the concept of web-based online networking to assist in the rapid creating of new business relationships between individuals and organisations in order to create collaborative partnerships. The network platform leveraged powerful social network analysis capabilities, to help facilitate and promote these new relationships and collaborations between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and academia. The ultimate objective was to accelerate research, dissemination of information and increase the competitiveness of European health-related industries and businesses. The ultimate objective is to improve the health of European citizens and address global health issues including emerging epidemics. SPIDERA FOR LIFE's main goal was to become recognised as a key resource for life science and health players in Europe, and to become a preferred choice for creating new collaborations and technology-transfer start-ups. The SPIDERA FOR LIFE concept puts the individual in the centre and enables each one of these individuals to grow his or her network around them through a combination of contacting, being contacted and introductions from mutual contacts similar to the way people communicate and meet at conferences and other physical events. This can be done from the home with simple to use and friendly software tools. The project website is http://www.spidera.eu/.
