Objective
This two-year project will create awareness and share knowledge in the field of Design Management (DM). Knowledge is considered as a driver in Europe's economy, offering new challenges for enterprises. Innovation is the way to transform these challenges in to opportunities. For companies, innovation should be a way of thinking and finding creative solutions within companies itself to differentiate and create new business.
This is where DM plays a major role. DM is proactive, integrating different kinds of knowledge to provide the solutions for innovation and differentiation of products and services. It enables a company to add substantial value to existing products, allows for new marketing strategies, opening ways to increase profitability. ADMIRE aims to stimulate companies - especially SMEs - to come into action and enhance their competitiveness by the implementation of DM.
To achieve this ambition, the following objectives are set out:
- Stimulate innovation in European SMEs by raising awareness, promo ting the opportunities and exchange good practices on DM.
- Establish a sustainable European platform for knowledge sharing development involving design centres, knowledge institutes and enterprises.
- Organise an annual European DM Award (EDMA) that celebrates and promotes good DM practices by European businesses.
- Identify and pilot new activities for promoting DM e.g. a European Design Capital status to recognize good DM in public and business administration. ADMIRE has a wide European dimension.
Partners work in different sectors and bring in extensive knowledge and networks in the field of DM and organisation of (international) Design Awards. All are involved in activities to stimulate innovation through DM by SMEs. They represent the entire European design and will set up truly European cooperation. All ADMIRE activities, including EDMA will continue after the end of the project.
