Networking of national / regional funding and innovation organisations for the involvement of SMEs in technology-based innovation clusters in Europe

Objective

The global objective of the INNET project is to strengthen interactions and cooperation between national, regional and European innovation funding schemes in order to develop SME-targeted activities within European Technology Clusters. This will be done by investigating the mechanisms to promote technology transfer and take up activities (acquisition) by SMEs in the European Member States related to these clusters by launching common Calls for proposals. The INNET project will after one year be able to launch a common Pilot call for proposals and a subsequent call before project end.

INNET has 4 specific objectives related to the identification of common issues:
- To produce a State-of-the-art of regional and national innovation schemes and technology cluster policies and programmes in the 9 participating countries
- To identify and analyze common strategic issues in the area of regional and national innovation schemes and technology cluster policies and programmes.
- To design a Pilot call for a cross-border innovation / technology transfer scheme in favour of SMEs
- To implement the Pilot call. From the analysis of the call results, design, prepare and implement a second call (or calls) for proposals INNET has 3 objectives related to the embedding of the project in its wider context
- To establish and implement efficient internal and external communication systems for the project
- To ensure the relevance and sustainability of the project by associating, throughout the project's life-time, a High Level Expert Group
- To identify new partners and prepare the follow-up of the project The consortium consists of 19 partners, of which 8 national and 11 regional organizations, from 9 European countries, amongst which 2 organizations from a new Member State.
They total an approximate amount of 1153 m per annum of funding for innovation and technology transfer schemes or programmes specifically targeting SMEs.
