Objective
QUALISOL - INSTALLER QUALIFICATION FOR SOLAR HEATING SYSTEMS
The project aims at an improved and broadly disseminated installer qualification on solar heating systems in the participating countries, leading to:
an increased know-how of the installers and thus a higher installation quality, a better and durable reputation and confidence in solar thermal and a larger number of qualified installers.
The works carried out in the project are:
1 Definition phase
Analysis of the national structures and existing systems for installer qualification also by questionnaires on best sales and best installation practice among the most successful installation companies.
2 Production of materials for installer qualification
Italy and Portugal: Production of basic didactic materials(book, transparencies, guideline for trainers)
Germany: Update of existing material, production of an internet self-learning module.
Netherlands: Development of a qualification module on solar thermal and PV systems for EPA advisors(integrated energy performance advice).
3 Pilot implementation
Set-up of 2 training centres in Italy and 1 in Portugal. Development of a portable EPA training package in the Netherlands. Pilot qualification courses. Testing of the improved techniques.
4 Dissemination and follow-up
Dissemination activities in co-operation with the relevant organisations:
- seminar for trainers
- strategy to recruit new installers
- programme of continuous qualification courses with the national organisations
- publicity material for the qualified installer
- preparation of a "Renewable energy partnership"
- preparation of a certification scheme
- workshops and publications
Installer qualification is a key measure for developing markets to their full potential. For Italy and Portugal the project will create and effectively implement a qualification system. In Germany and the Netherlands it will lead to a significant improvement and an enlarged dissemination of the existing installer qualification.
MEDITERRASOLAR
OBJECTIVES
Mediterra Solar is engaging on an action plan to stimulate the market for domestic solar thermal applications and supporting its launch, in the geographic target zone of Southern Continental Europe.
DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKS
Mediterra Solar is based on 5 actions:
* the creation and masterminding of a solar thermal marketing group bringing together manufacturers and operators in the Spanish, Italian and French markets in an effort to analyse the different schemes implemented on a community level and to set up a coherent and attractive promotion campaign.
* the implementation of a trans-national and regional campaign of information, from September 2001 to June 2002, aimed at local residents in the zone of the covered area. A regular local communication campaign, which, over a period of 10 months, will rely on newspaper articles in the regional press and on the presence of a "solar information" stand at local events dealing with the environment, habitat.
* design and implementation of a solar thermal promotion campaign over the Summer period in 30 seaside or tourist resorts in 8 regions of the Italy-France-Spain Mediterranean arc. The target population is European tourists who are numerous in choosing these regions to enjoy the beneficial effect of the sun during this period. It will last over a full 2 months (July and August) and will involve 12 persons divided into 6 teams.
* the creation of a virtual site for sharing information. This web site will present the campaign of information, the domestic solar thermal applications in the form of technical specifications and FAQ and the regional information centres. The site will contain links to the European solar thermal manufacturers and suppliers.
The development of 5 regional services providing information on solar thermal energy. They will be able to advise and direct enquiries to the professionals concerned. The perpetuation of these information services will be determined in co-operation with the regional public authorities and the professionals, according to the different contracts.
EXPECTED RESULTS
Mediterra Solar plans to directly advise and inform 50.000 people of domestic solar thermal applications (several million with the help of the media). If only 2% of the requests for information were to materialise as investments, 1.000 solar installations would be set up after the project.
