Objectif
1) The main objectives of this project are to establish energy efficient in-door comfort conditions (air and light) for the sport practice by designing and building/ rehabilitating sustainable sportive buildings and to create a decision-maker tool, aiming to reduce investment, operation and maintenance costs. Further objectives are: to identify and to advance the state of the art of the sportive buildings concerning RUE and RES in European countries, to demonstrate that considerable energy savings and associated reduction of emissions can contribute to the reduction of greenhouse effect and the mitigation of climate change, to contribute to the decrease of the energy supply dependency, to demonstrate that energy efficient and sustainable sportive buildings can fully meet or exceed all the architectural, functional, comfort, control and safety requirements, to disseminate the results and knowledge obtained in this project to a wide audience and to contribute to the acceptance of innovative and renewable technologies.
2) The project participants will be universities, research laboratories, energy consultants, architects, building designers, engineers, local authorities, etc. This project will enclose the majority of sportive building types and will involve various climatic and cultural regions (South, North, Centre and Eastern Europe). For each participant country, actions shall be carried out during 21 months according to the following work packages:
WP1. Data collection, which consists in a query elaboration and distribution and direct contacts with target agents, with the objective of obtaining the state of art of the sportive buildings concerning RUE and RES in European Countries, including all relevant information to be used in WP2.
Phase I which is related to the data collection is ongoing. All partners have had problems to achieve the national sportive buildings characterisation. In order to obtain more data this task was extended to the end of May of 2003.
WP2. RUE and RES interventions in the Sportive buildings
WP2.1 Selection of case studies with RUE and RES interventions, already existent in European Countries
WP2.2. Performance of Audits in new or existent sportive buildings (one for each participant country)
WP2.2.1. Identification of the RUE and RES measures.
WP2.3. Creation of a tool with the objective of facilitating the integration of RUE and RES by the decision-makers.
Phase II embody the case studies, the energy audits and the creation of a tool.
18 case studies were prepared for all participant countries. These case studies will be inserted in the ESBU web-site page as soon as they will be accepted by the owners of the selected sportive buildings.
In relation to the sportive buildings energy audits, all ESBU partners had concluded them. These energy audits will be inserted in the website during the month of April 2003.
Concerning the decision tool, this task is ongoing. The draft documents that represent the core of the tool are concluded. Until the end of July 2003 ADENE will develop the decision tool based on the core documents. The tool will also be translated to the partners local languages.
WP3. Dissemination of results and knowledge obtained in this project
WP3.1. Production of a CD-ROM about RUE and RES in sportive buildings, that includes the case studies,
best practices and a decision-maker tool, in English and local language (1000 copies per participant country).
WP3.2. Project presentation web-site implemented from the begging of the project.
WP3.3. National workshop realisation.
Phase III is related with the dissemination of the ESBU project, the production of a CD-ROM, the web-site implementation and the national workshop.
The web-site has been developed since the beginning of the project, and can be seen in the following web page http://www.esbu.org(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre) . According to the development of the project ADENE is will insert more information in the different sub-menus of the website.
The production of the CD-ROM will enclose all the information contained in the ESBU web-site. These CDs will be produced in the end of the project, and all participant countries will have 1000 copies of CDs, except for Slovakia, which will have a total of 400 CDs.
Relatively with the national workshop, all partners excluding Slovakia will organise their own national workshop by the end of the project.
The main results of the project are listed below:
- The state of art of the Sportive buildings concerning RUE and RES in European Countries.
- Reduce energy use from RUE and RES.
- Reduce CO2 emissions and environmental impact.
- Improve the comfort, the architectural quality and viability of sportive buildings operation.
- Reduce depletion of fossil fuels, decrease of the energy supply dependency and improve the acceptance of renewables.
- A tool to facilitate the integration of RUE and RES by the decision-makers.
- Public awareness.
