Objective
The SINATRA pilot project intends to create an interactive multimedia database in order to distribute in
Europe and world-wide digitalized film archives. Potential professional customers are :
- audio-visual producers (film, video and TV),
- advertising agencies,
- corporate communication companies,
- education and training bodies, universities and multimedia producers and publishers.
The content of the interactive multimedia database will be collected from the rights owners companies of film archives in Europe, mainly members of the INNA (International Newsreel and Newsfilm Association). The network foreseen for the test-pilot will be INTERNET (World Wide Web) for text, still pictures and subset of MPEG1 files retrieval and EURO-ISDN for MPEG1 or MPEG2 files transfer. Approximatively 3000 subjects (text/film) will be available from the rights owners participating companies. The text data will be in original language and in French and English translations.
Potential professional users are participating in this pilot-project to test both the technical and the marketing aspects.
SINATRA is part of the Audiovisual EUREKA programme PAXOS.
