Objective
The SME-Net service framework examined the viability and the subsequent parameters of a consolidated, integrated and focused pan-European information service directly relating to SMEs. The information services that the SME-Net project tried out included: start-up and business plan advice, utilising both digital data and expert advisors; access to up-to-the-minute technical and business information; online SME database searches. The SME-Net project explored a number of other features designed to increase collaboration and communication between SMEs, and to facilitate the formation of partnerships and consortia.
The expected results of the project included a clear definition of the target audience's needs, the information that should be provided as well as the technological requirements of such a service. The definition phase also explored the relationships, partnerships and data sources necessary to make the platform work, including the meta-data needs of such a service.
