Economic growth and the use of non-renewable energy resources

Final Activity and Management Report Summary - G+ENERGY RESOURCES (Economic growth and the use of non-renewable energy resources)

The main objective of the project was to study the relationship between the usage of non-renewable energy resources (as fossil fuels, coal and natural gas) and the economic growth. More precisely, we studied the role of technical progress as a key ingredient to avoid the trade-off between economic growth and exhaustible resources. In particular, we focused our analysis on studying both the possibilities of energy-saving technologies to sustain long run growth, and the dynamical transition properties of the problem.

Besides that, we studied the implications of the usage of non-renewable resources in life expectancy. This is a major topic in environmental economics, which is closely related with economic growth and development. In particular, we studied the intergenerational component liked with the usage of natural resources.
