Personalised adult learning through technology

Objective

Increasing the basis skills and educational levels of underachieving adults through improved use of ICT is a key priority in the EUâ s strategy for combating social exclusion and meeting the skills needs of employers. Combining the use of e- and m- learning with Personalised Self Directed Learning is an under-researched challenge that has the potential to make basic and transferable skills learning much more effective.

Building on existing research, the project will establish an underpinning educational philosophy (pedagogy) and a range of appropriate resources for the delivery of Personalised Self Directed e-learning and m-learning to support basic adult literacy, numeracy and language learning. The project will be delivered by a transnational research team with complementary expertise in cognitive psychology, androgogy, learning design for ICT-based resources and human-computer interaction.
