Students of the Arctic

Objective

According to the most recent surveys on research, science remains far from the daily concerns of a large part of the population and arouses only limited concern among young people. The International Polar Year (03/07-03/09) offers a unique opportunity to exploit this appealing subject in order to give rise to young students for science. Polar science covers a wide range of topics such as arctic biology, meteorology, climatology, oceanography, etc, that are subject to appeal to a large audience. Polar Research is extremely relevant nowadays because it is close related to the global climate change understanding. MOSTRA, the International Polar Foundation and, at a first stage, four TV Networks, offer to work closely in order to produce, broadcast and promote "STUDENTS OF THE ARCTIC", a 52' documentary dedicated to life in the University Centre in Svalbard - the northernmost university in the world, at 78° latitude - which will help restore the links between science and the population.
