Integrating EURATOM FP5 and FP6 research into the European Master of Science in Radiation Biology

Objective

This programme will promote the transfer of knowledge gained from radiobiology research contracts within the Euratom Radiation Protection Programme. Targets are other participants within the EURATOM Radiation Protection programme and the larger radiation biology community. We have selected the European Master of Science course in Radiation Biology as a vehicle for dissemination.

This annual course has, for over ten years, conducted extensive postgraduate education in the field of radiation biology, and has been instrumental in maintaining the field within the European Research Area. The MSCFP project will select senior scientists who currently participate (FP6), or who have participated (FP5) in EURATOM-funded research, to present their results to the MSc students. This will ensure a wide dissemination of the most recent EURATOM research results to the target population who can most benefit.

For this goal a series of modular courses will be designed to maximise opportunity for the MSc students to benefit from this knowledge. To strengthen the exchange of information a series of laboratory visits will be arranged to allow the MSc students to participate in ongoing FP6 research work.
