Researchers Night 2006: The Greek Events

Objective

The main objective of the ReN project is to bring closer researchers with the Greek society in regional and national level aiming to attract more young people into research careers, to contribute to create a more favourite environment for the researchers. The target group for this activity is the large public in Greece. Nevertheless, different subcategories like kids, teen-agers, young people, adults, teachers, parents, "ordinary people", researchers, entrepreneurs, politicians are to be reached as parts of the general public.

The duration of the project will be 5 months. The first 3 months will oriented in preparatory activities and the last month will include results dissemination activities. All participants are members of the Greek Mobility Centres Network, part of the ERA-MORE network. The coordinator is CERTH, the Bridgehead Organization of the Greek Mobility Network, which co-organised with the Technology Museum in Thessaloniki a very successful 2005 Researchers Night event, the "Starparty ".

To achieve the aforementioned general scopes the project will focus on the following activities:
- Three big events at the night of 22 September 2006 in the 3 major cities of Greece
- Promotional activities of the 3 events (media, dissemination of leaflets, etc.)
-. Development of a portal as a useful tool for the promotion of the events and dissemination of project results
- Other dissemination activities of project results (TV-spots, publication in the press)

Finally, it has to be emphasized that the objectives o f ReN project are in line with the general objective of EC HRM policy. It provides also synergies with PYTHEAS project, an under implementation FP-6 project, related to the development and the operation of the Greek National Mobility Centres Network.
